How Students Can Make Extra Money Through Software Freelancing

How Students can Make Money

When you were a child and someone asked you what you wanted to be when you grew up, a “freelancer” probably wasn’t your answer. The freelancing career has only begun to take off in the past decade. But now, it’s an integral part of the gig economy, and it can be very lucrative.

If you have knowledge that other people need, like software and computer programming, you can be very successful as a freelancer. Because of the high demand and flexible hours, even students can make extra money through software freelancing.

Do you have the skills to work in software jobs, but not the “work experience”?

If so, freelancing might be exactly what you need to get started in the field.

When you’re ready to get started, use these tips to boost your chances of success in software freelancing.

1. Know Your Skills and Weaknesses

The main thing that holds students back from becoming software freelancers is the thought that they don’t have anything to offer.

But if you have skills like coding or programming, you “speak a language” that billions of people don’t.

Go on some of the freelancing websites and check out what clients are asking for. Make a list of the skills you have that match some of the jobs. Then, write down your weaknesses, so you know what to work toward.

The amazing part about everything being digital is that you can fill in the gaps where your weak areas are online. A lot of what you’ll need to learn is available free, or you can pay for a certification that will help you get more work.

Look at the skills you don’t know as an opportunity to learn them! If you have a foundation to work with, you can start out with those in your new freelancing career.

2. Market Yourself

As you’re checking out the jobs available, scroll through the “competition,” too.

How are other freelancers marketing themselves?

Your reputation is important, but you might not have a big portfolio to share as you are just starting. The last thing you want to put on your resume is that you’re brand new to the industry.

Instead, focus on the experiences you do have. Market yourself as proficient in as many programming languages as possible.

How did you get your expertise?

Include that in as professional a description as you can.

If you’ve worked with any major companies — name drop! Unless you signed a non-disclosure agreement, mentioning a big name can be enough to sway a client to choose you as their freelancer.

When it comes to the results you’ve gotten, try to quantify them as much as possible. Use numbers to show your experience. This is the evidence that potential clients want to prove to them that you know your stuff.

3. Choose the Best Software Freelancing Sites

Now that you know how you’re going to market yourself, it’s time to add your resume to the best software freelancing sites. Every platform has its advantages and disadvantages, so you should check them all out and see which one works for you.

You don’t need to limit yourself. Use the same or similar resume and see which sites you get nibbles or bites from.

Some of the top sites for software freelancing include:

Rockerstop –

Rockerstop is one of the most popular sites for entrepreneurs. Clients in all industries go here for everything from building simple web pages to software programming. The downside is that you have to pass their tests and certificates in order to get the higher-paying jobs.

Fiverr –

This site has become the go-to for people who need creative tasks done, such as voiceovers and art projects. However, it’s also a common one for requests for programming services. If you have a skill you can lead in, Fiverr is an excellent place to get started.

Upwork –

Beginners are welcome and, in fact, searched out at Upwork. Clients who are more concerned about budget than expertise use Upwork for everything from virtual assistant to software development. If you want to build a portfolio, Upwork is where you start.

Toptal –

Once you build your portfolio, you can try to get into Toptal. The platform works with top companies and the best freelancers. It’s not easy to get in, but if you can, you get access to some of the highest-paid jobs.

Start with the easy ones to get your portfolio built and keep growing your jobs from there. Don’t forget to update your profile as you learn new skills!

4. Set Real Goals and Expectations

Since you’re just starting, you need to have realistic expectations. You’re competing against other freelancers who may have been doing this longer than you.

Until you build a portfolio, it’s going to be hard to win the bids of the best-paying jobs. However, you also need to pay the bills, so taking on a lot of high-work, low-reward clients will make going to school and working arduous for you.

You need to approach the jobs you bid on and the work you accept with a strategy. That way, you know what you need to make and how long you have to get the funds cleared. Remember, many of the sites you’ll be working with don’t pay immediately after the project wraps.

Go over your budget, finances, and schedule. Set a goal for each week. If you have to accept lower bids to get your foot in the door at first, it’s okay. But as soon as you can, start shooting for the higher ones.

5. Manage Your Time

As the work starts coming in, it’s easy to neglect your studying. But schoolwork is just as important as making money, if not more.

Think about your freelancing gig the way you’d handle a part- or full-time job outside of your classes. If you were away from your room and at a “real” job, you wouldn’t be able to play a game, chat with your friends, or get distracted by other things.

The best thing you can learn is how to manage your time and treat freelancing as a legitimate side career. The way to do this starts with setting boundaries for yourself and your friends and family.

Let everyone know when you are free and when not to bother you. Set your phone and electronics on “do not disturb” and stay off social media.

Stick to a schedule for schoolwork and freelancing, and you’ll be able to balance everything in a healthy, productive way.

Conclusion

Software freelancing is a lucrative side gig that is gaining a ton of momentum right now. If you have the skills, you don’t necessarily need the experience to make some money!

With these tips, you’ll be able to juggle school, add new knowledge to your bag of software development tricks, and make money without leaving campus!

What Is A RESTful API?

How does the RESTful API work?

What is RESTful Api? How to create a REST API? How a REST API really works? We will discuss all these things in this blog.

What is an API?

API stands for Application Program interface and that’s a very broad term. There are all kinds of api’s but we are going to talk about Web api’s. There is an API senior computer operating system in your smartphone and even in some refrigerators and so on. This is very generalized but it’s essentially a contract provided by one piece of software to another piece of software.

Analogy

It usually consists of a structured request and then a structured response one piece of software says give me this information formatted in this way. To understand we’re going to take a look at a couple analogies.

Think of yourself at sitting at a table at a restaurant in your one piece of software such as a web application on the client side and then in the kitchen is the server or the assistance that processes certain requests then the waiter is like an API is formatted to take a certain order in a particular way and then bring back a specific meal this will be the information, data or the response that you requested so an API is typically a messenger or a waiter between running software.

Another analogy is box here this toy so if we think of this as an API it’s formatted to take certain shapes so the client has to format the request as a circle, square or triangle anything else will be taken you’ll get some sorts of error message or error response so this is way how an API works and you can think of these shapes as the API standard whether it’s Jason or soap or something else so to make this operate even more like a real API we could have some kind of output once the formatted shape requests go in that would be your response.

What is REST?

REST stands for representational state transfer; it’s an architecture style for designing network applications. It works depending on a stateless client-server communication protocol and in most of the cases this is going to be HTTP. HTTP is basically the foundation of the communication of the internet of the web.

Every time you load a web page in your browser it’s making an HTTP request to a server somewhere. It is possible to use other protocols with rest but HTTP is by far the most used because in order to use real- world rest you need the delivery methods that HTTP offers rest to treat objects on the server side as resources that can be created, updated and destroyed or deleted an example of a server-side object would blog post in a database or something like that.

We can create these posts with a post request, a delete with a delete request and so on. What makes REST so awesome is that it operates using just HTTP and usually some kind of standard like Jason so it can be used by virtually any programming language because most of the good languages can make HTTP requests in some way whether it’s PHP JavaScript rails Java Python all of these languages are perfectly capable of working with Rexel interfaces.

So, API is the messenger and rest let us use HTTP requests to format those messages. You may also hear the term RESTful api and that just refers to conforming to the rest constraints so rest api and RESTful api are essentially the same thing.

HTTP Methods

Now we have established what a rest api is. Let’s look at the specific methods and requests that can be made to a server through HTTP.

GET request is the most common way your browser client makes requests every day just by going to a specific server URI and requests are used to do just that; they get data or retrieve data from a particular resource.

POST requests, you probably use these everyday as well because every time you fill out a webform you’re making a post request in most cases you can also make requests from forms but its not secure and the data you submit can be seen by anyone. Form tags in HTML can take an action and a method attribute so the action would be the page that you’re submitting to and then the method would be either post or get.

These are only the two requests that can be made from just a web form on its own.

Authentication

Authenticate can mean just register registering your app with the providers website. Even sometimes you’ll have to pay for it you’ll have to purchase that data access so there’s a few ways that authentication is implemented. So usually you’ll use OAuth which involves getting some kind of access token and sending that along with your request so if you tend to attempt to make a request without that then you’ll get some kind of unauthorized ever. GitHub has all the information about REST API.

Postman is to run the api, you can download it in your system. Put your endpoint and then the type of request in some cases you’ll have to send data or maybe some header values for instance if you need to do authorization you can put the value. If you need to send data you can do that as well. If it is a post request you can send the body in different forms like raw data or Jason.

This was all about what is REST API. Now hopefully you have a better idea on How RESTful API works.

PHP VS Python Which is Best

Which is Best Programming
Language

In this Blog we are going to take a look at two of the most well-known programming languages in the world of web development. That is PHP and Python. So, we’re going to look in a few different categories and compare things like learning curve popularity and so on.

Before we start there are some really important points to keep in mind.

  1. There is no common answer for everyone
  2. Both the technologies in an impartial way to help people decide which path to take.
  3. Learn more about both languages and what they’re generally used for.

Uses of these Languages

PHP is strictly used for web development whereas Python is used for web development and as a general programming language. PHP is extremely popular for web development on its own or through frameworks or through content management systems like WordPress that is its job that’s what PHP does.

Python however is used for web development but it is also used for many other things. So, it’s a general-purpose language and python is getting more popular every day but not necessarily for web development machine learning and AI. It’s huge right now and python plays a big role in that genre like data science, automation etc. So, there is a difference in these two languages.

If you are interested in machine learning and AI or Data Science then Python Language is for you. But if you are interested in making full stack web applications, web API’s you should go with PHP.

Now let’s talk about these languages’ popularity. So, the results of Stack overflow survey gave PHP a popularity score of 30.7% and Python 38.8%. Python has a solid claim for being the fastest growing major programming language and Python is used for many more things.

On the other side, PHP has its little small world of web applications. If we are talking about popularity of just that of websites or web app’s then PHP has more popularity. If you look at the number of websites that use PHP/ Python then PHP is a clear win. WordPress is a huge component of that among other frameworks like Laravel.

So, both languages are used by large companies, most big companies and websites use multiple technologies but PHP is used for instance by Facebook, Wikipedia, Yahoo, Instagram parts of google. Spotify that uses Python.

Syntax and Elegance of these two languages

Talking about popularity in the industry and popularity among developers is really different. PHP is very practical as far as deployment hosting, WordPress Content Management are like that which makes it great for developers but on the other hand there’s also so much poorly written PHP and the fact is that PHP lets you write poor code and it really works it’s really which is not good practise. So, take time to learn good code by doing more practise.

Python, on the other hand, is much stricter in its syntax and how it lets you put things together which makes it cleaner.

Curve of these languages

  1. Python has a clear path for learning but has a broad range of syntax
  2. Python is also used for harder things in general
  3. PHP has too many ways to do the same thing which can be confusing
  4. PHP is not secure

Frameworks and CMS (Content Management System)

So, both the languages have two amazing frameworks. PHP has Laravel and symphony. Python has Django and flask. Laravel is just a good developer like PHP so they like Laravel too because of the work that’s been put into it, the elegance, the ease of use, and the symphony is also a great framework. Laravel uses symphony components and symphony 4 is now a micro framework to start with so you can use it for like micro services and backend Api’s you can also build it into a full-fledged large-scale application which is good.

Whereas python goes it has Django and flask which are different frameworks which is good because it depends on which type of developer you are as to which is better for you now Django is very high level there’s a certain way to do things.

Hosting

When it comes to deployment PHP is simple and cheap you can use a shared hosting account. Python you have options like cloud hosting like digital ocean.

Conclusion

Figure out what you want to do

Run through a few simple tutorials of both and see what you grasp and what you enjoy.

Read and watch videos to get clear perspectives

Look out job stats and figure out what you are passionate about. Do you want to build web apps or are you interested in data science AI etc anything but web apps Python is probably the clear choice over php but if it is web development that you are interested in run through some tutorials documentations and take time to observe what you like and don’t like in these languages?

Maybe PHP has more jobs but you hate writing then you probably go with python.

Don’t just go with one source, go with different sources and discover your own experience with both the languages.

This was all about the PHP and Python language. Let me know in the comment section which programming language you are working, and your experience with it. Also, if you are a PHP or Python developer, what you think about the above information. If you are a learner of any of these languages what challenges you are facing.

How much time does it take to learn graphic designing? How much money do you get for freelancing? Can we make a career in this too? Is degree required? Are certificates required? This all topics we are going to cover in this blog.

You may have noticed many people make their vector image. This work is done by a graphic designer. You must have seen that some websites have some drawings made in them. That is also a work done by a graphic designer. If there is a website, make a blueprint of it initially. This is also what graphic designers do on adobe XD.

Graphic Designing for Clients

Making logos for brands is also a job of graphic designer. Graphic Designer makes 5-6 logo designs to pick one from it. Whatever is our Facebook page or YouTube page, the banner art that is placed above it is also the job of a graphic designer.  The best thing is that graphic designing is a field that is going on increasing day by day. The need for graphic designers is increasing.

If anyone wants to open a shop even today, then they go to the graphic designer for illustrations on the website, logo and templates. You can talk about any field, policemen need army people, the corporate world has a mandatory need of graphic designers. Advertisement companies, social media all need graphic designers.

Now the topic is where you can get graphic designing freelance work? So, there are several freelancing sites in the market to find graphic designing freelance work such as Rockerstop, 99Design, Freelancer, Upwork. Rockerstop and 99 design is basically for Graphic designers only.

Tools for Graphic Designing-

When we do graphic designing, we need a lot of software and tools. So, let’s first see which software and tools we need. Mostly used software and tools are

  1. Adobe Photoshop
  2. Adobe Illustrator – Logos and Vector Image Illustrations
  3. Adobe XD
  4. Adobe InDesign

Besides these tools there are many other tools also. But your work will be easily complete from these tools only.

1. Adobe Photoshop

Adobe photoshop is the strongest editor in the market for photo editing, masking etc you can do easily on adobe photoshop.

2. Adobe Illustrator

To make logos, illustrations and cards then we need Adobe illustrator as it offers vector images. Where the vector image is used, for example – Coca Cola logo is used in bottle cap as well as in big banners. It is highly recommended that first you get familiar with Adobe photoshop, then you should see Adobe illustrator.

3. Adobe XD

Adobe Xd is for designing prototype, blueprint and illustration for the websites.

Another question! From where we can buy these software and tools? All these tools are paid and you buy these from Adobe Official Site. Otherwise, if you are smart you can search how you can use these tools for free.

After download and software installed in your system! How will you learn these software’s? However, there are so many courses on YouTube but they do not cover all topics. So, in this case- Udemy is the website from where you can purchase training courses by experts. These are also paid but you know how to download training courses for free.

Now comes do we need a degree to become a Graphic Designer?

Let’s understand this with an example! In Gym there are normal trainers as well as certified trainers, so certified trainers are more valuable than normal trainers.

Similarly, if you are about to do freelancing for pocket money in your college days or to do a part time job with your regular job. Then in this case you don’t need any degree.

This is because in this field people give importance to your skills and how strong is your portfolio, how high is your rating, how you have worked for your previous clients.

But if you choose graphic designing as your main source of income, and if graphic designing is your career choice, then you have to take a degree!

Certificates Necessary?

No, there is no need for any certification. There are various graphics designers out who can make certificates fake. So, one believes in your certificates but they do believe in your skills.

What is the salary of a Graphic Designer?

In India when you are working for small firms, they will offer around 5-7 thousand initially and will increase as time goes. On the other side if you are working for Big MNC companies, they will offer initially around 15-20 thousand and increase gradually in years or may be in some months.

So, we have covered all the questions mentioned above. This was all about how you can become a graphic designer and do freelancing in your college days and after that you can also choose graphic designing skills for your career option.

In our upcoming articles we will cover more topics on Graphic Designing. So, stay updated on our blog and for any further query, comment in the section below. We are always there to answer your questions.

Potential Side Effects Covid-19 Vaccine

Vaccine Adverse Effects

It wouldn’t be invalid if I say that the year 2020 will be remembered as “COVID YEAR” in history. We as a generation saw this story unfold from the wet markets of WUHAN’S, China and in every area in every country of this world. It has been more than 1 year of this pandemic which has had a disastrous effect on earth.

With more than 92 Million cases, and 2 Million deaths, this pandemic is not stopping anyway. This virus is growing in most of the regions and countries that had visible success in defeating the initial outbreaks and are also seeing a rise in infections again.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) has informed that the virus will pursue to spread speedily in the coming months. Several European countries observed a growth in cases during the autumn. Most of the countries executed lockdowns and other restrictions to curb the infections. The United Kingdom is also facing another steep rise in cases driven by a new, more easily transmitted, mutated variant of the virus.

Various Coronavirus vaccines have now been authorized to be used, either by particular countries, or by European Union and WHO. There are currently more than 50 Covid-19 vaccines candidates in trials. Presently, there are two vaccines, authorized and suggested for covid-19. The Pfizer-BioNTech covid-19 vaccine, Moderna’s covid-19 vaccine.

As of 28 December 2020, large-scale phase 3 clinical trials are in progress for three covid-19 vaccines. In the United States are AstraZeneca’s Covid-19 vaccine, Johnsen’s Covid-19 vaccine, Novavax’s Covid-19 vaccine.

Covid-19 vaccines help our body prosper immunity to the virus that causes covid-19, without us having to get the sick. Several sorts of vaccines work in various methods to give shield, but with all sorts of vaccines, the body is deserted with supply of “Memory” T-Lymphocytes, B-lymphocytes as well as antibodies, that will remind how to fight with viruses in the future. It basically requires a few weeks for a body to construct T-Lymphocytes and B-lymphocytes after the vaccination.

Sometimes it is possible after vaccination, the process of enhancing the immunity can cause symptoms, such as fever, muscle pain, fatigue etc. These symptoms are common and are an indication that the body is constructing immunity.

such as fever, muscle pain, fatigue etc. These symptoms are common and are an indication that the body is constructing immunity.

So, it is very important that you understand the minor side-effects of covid vaccines. Also, we will discuss some of the rare but serious complications that can occur. Also, we will talk about whether you can get Covid-19 from covid vaccine? So, without further delay, let’s begin.

Common Side Effects

The most common side-effects you can experience after covid-19 vaccine includes

  1. pain at the injection site
  2. tiredness
  3. headache
  4. muscle pains
  5. chills
  6. Lymphadenopathy
  7. fever, joint pains, swelling at the injection site
  8. redness at the injection site and even also experience some kind of nausea.

Well, these are known as minor or expected side effects of vaccines and they can occur not just after Covid-19 vaccine but in fact after most of the vaccines that you receive. These side effects take place because your body is adapting to the vaccine.

You see, vaccines work by introducing a small amount of bacteria, virus or toxins into your body. Because of the bacteria, virus or toxins has been killed or weakened. There is no risk in contracting the disease in question. However, your body reacts as if it were under attack, and mounts an immune response.

If, in the future you do encounter the disease, you’ll have an army of cells and antibodies ready to fight it. This means that any disadvantageous effects you experience are unlikely to be start by the virus, bacteria or toxins in the vaccine. Most of the common side effects such as redness or fever cause by the injection or by your own immune system fighting against the weak invaders.

Chance of Serious Side Effects?

Serious adverse events, while possible, are very rare. Let’s understand by the example of yellow fever that is also generated by a virus. In conformity with the World health organization(WHO) , captious reactions happen at the figure of nearly 0.09 to 0.4 cases per 10 thousand doses of the yellow fever vaccine, in a community who haven’t been revealed to the virus. By contrast, the crucial form of yellow fever is fatal nearly half the time.

Rate of Serious Adverse Effects –

On an analogous note, the rate of serious allergic reactions is around 1-2 cases per million across all vaccines. Correlate that with the death rate of measles (around 1 in 500), and for flu which causes around 200 deaths in the UK alone, every winter, and it’s undeniable which is riskier.

What we require to realize are the risks and advantages – how many people are dying from yellow fever; how many people are dying from measles VS how many died from any serious adverse effects of the vaccine.

Clearly, adverse effects are devastating for the individuals and the family but they are rare, and we need to balance this with the risks correlated with that disease. So, there is a remote chance that covid-19 vaccine can cause a critical allergic reaction.

A critical allergic reaction would normally occur within a few minutes to one hour after getting a dose of the COVID-19 Vaccine. For this reason, your vaccination contributor may ask you to stay at the place where you received your vaccine for watching after vaccination.

Signs of a severe allergic reaction can include: Difficulty in breathing, swelling of your face and throat, A fast heartbeat, A skin rash all over your body, dizziness and extreme weakness.

Can the COVID Vaccine give me COVID-19?

“Big NO” is the answer to this question. None of the COVID-19 Vaccines contain SARS-CoV-2 virus, so it is possible that you can contract Covid-19 from the covid vaccine.

So, this was all about the side effects of Covid-19 vaccine. For more latest updates on CoronaVirus, stay updated on our blog.

How to Recover From Covid-19?

In this blog we will understand how Coronavirus attacks our body and how it makes us die? How the Coronavirus Vaccine Defeats virus? How does a man recover from a vaccine? Which vaccine is most effective? Which vaccine should we get? This is all you will get to know from this blog. Let’s start!

As you all know, corona spreads while we come into contact with any other infected person. The major term for this transmitting is “Droplets”, that’s why it is advised to maintain physical distancing. Outside the coronavirus, it has 2 parts. The protruding sharp part which is called spike protein is the deadliest. If it is removed then it will be of no use. And there is a bunch inside it that is called genetic material. It helps to enter our body.

Genetic material gives birth to new offspring like her. When this one virus will make one lakh viruses after going inside, we don’t even expect it. Spike protein is to and gets entered into our body and genetic material is to increase the number of viruses in the body.

The spike protein of this coronavirus is the only one that can touch the lungs and not the cells. Lungs cells are very sensitive. The cell membrane that is in the lungs also cannot enter from it.

The cell membrane allows certain things inside itself such as protein vitamins. And for something new that is taken from outside. They have receptors to go. This spike protein of the coronavirus sticks to this receptor and through it goes.

After entering, he gives his genetic information. This goes only on lungs because lungs tissues and cells are more sensitive. Our lungs receptor attracts spike protein and lets it go through our body which is more dangerous.

After going in, its genetic material which is RNA, it goes inside and matches with our DNA. Getting entered our lungs reach the nucleus of our body. After that it reaches the ribosome which is responsible for increasing the cell like proteins, vitamins and others. As the corona virus genetic material reaches the ribosome, the ribosome starts to double the virus; this process is known as replication.

When the immune system observes this replication, it starts fighting the virus and it keeps fighting. This is the main reason why we suffer from tiredness and fever in this disease.  In this case our antibody works as a defence mechanism.

Antibody starts getting attached to the spike protein of the coronavirus and makes it lock so that the virus could not go inside through receptors. The only way we can fight with this virus is to keep our immune system strong so the antibodies can cover the spike protein and the virus did not enter our body.

What Vaccines do?

Vaccine is responsible to make antibodies within our body to fight with the virus. Vaccine contains chemicals to increase antibodies. The reason behind why this vaccine took so much time to invent is that the coronavirus has RNA which is made up of single helix whereas our body is made up of DNA which is double helix structure. RNA is easy to produce rather than DNA.

Types of Vaccines?

Many countries made their own vaccines like Pfizer is from America which has to be placed under -70-degree temperature which is not possible and have more side effects. Russia has the SPUTNIK vaccine, UNO invented the NOVAVAX vaccine for poor countries like Africa. Vaccine made by University of Oxford and AstraZeneca is named as “Covishield” in India. These vaccines are based on RNA. Vaccine made by Bharat Biotech in India is named as “COVAXIN”.

All the vaccines are functional. But only 60 to 70 percent of the vaccine is effective. It is not necessary that the vaccine will not cause corona, even if you are vaccinated. But the chances are rare, and the person will get cured at home and will not die.

Coronavirus vaccine dose will be applied 2 times and both will be different in 28-40 days. So that your body will be ready to make antibodies to fight this virus.

Now comes to the side effects of this vaccine! Well, there are no major side-effects of any of the vaccines. 90% of the people do not have any side effects whereas the other 10% faced common symptoms like fever, headache and tiredness for some interval of time. So go and get vaccinated!

This is all about the vaccination of Coronavirus stay updated to our blog for latest updates.
